എല്ലാ മേഖലകളേയും വിലക്കയറ്റം ബാധിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രാലയവും ഒരു പടി മുന്നില്‍ തന്നെ. ഒക്ടോബര്‍ ഒന്നുമുതല്‍ പാസ്‌പോര്‍ട്ട് ലഭിക്കുന്നതിന് 500 മുതല്‍ 1000 രൂപ വരെ അധികചാര്‍ജ്ജ് ഈടാക്കാനാണ് വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രാലയത്തിന്റെ തീരുമാനം.
പാസ്‌പോര്‍ട്ടും ഇതരസേവന സേവനങ്ങളും സാധാരണ വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ ലഭിക്കണമെങ്കില്‍ 1500 രൂപ നല്‍കണം. ഇപ്പോഴിത് 1000 രൂപയാണ്. തല്‍ക്കാല്‍ സ്‌കീമില്‍ പാസ്‌പോര്‍ട്ട് ലഭിക്കണമെങ്കില്‍ 3500 രൂപയാണ് നല്‍കേണ്ടത്. 2500 രൂപയാണ് ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഈടാക്കുന്നത്. പുതുക്കിയ നിരക്കുകള്‍ ഒക്ടോബര്‍ ഒന്നുമുതല്‍ നിലവില്‍ വരുമെന്ന് വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രാലയം അറിയിച്ചു.
നിലവിലെ നിരക്കുകള്‍ മാര്‍ച്ച് 29, 2002ലാണ് നിലവില്‍ വന്നത്. പിന്നീട് ഈ മേഖലയില്‍ നിരക്കുവര്‍ദ്ധന വന്നിട്ടില്ല.
