ദോഹ: സാമ്പത്തിക മാന്ദ്യത്തെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് മരവിപ്പിലായിരുന്ന 'ഖത്തര്‍-ബഹ്‌റൈന്‍ സൗഹൃദ പാലം' പദ്ധതിക്ക് പുതുജീവന്‍. ഖത്തറിലെ റാസ് അശൈരിജിനെയും ബഹ്‌റൈനിലെ അസ്‌കറിനെയും ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന 40 കിലോമീറ്റര്‍ നീളമുള്ള നിര്‍ദിഷ്ട കോസ്വേ യാഥാര്‍ഥ്യമാക്കുമെന്ന് കഴിഞ്ഞദിവസം ഖത്തര്‍ സന്ദര്‍ശിച്ച ബഹ്‌റൈന്‍ വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രി ഖാലിദ് ബിന്‍ അഹ്മദ് ബിന്‍ മുഹമ്മദ് അലി അല്‍ ഖലീഫ പറഞ്ഞു.
പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാവിയെക്കുറിച്ച് ഖത്തര്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയും വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രിയുമായ ശൈഖ് ഹമദ് ബിന്‍ ജാസിം ബിന്‍ ജബര്‍ ആല്‍ഥാനിയുമായി ഞായറാഴ്ച അദ്ദേഹം ചര്‍ച നടത്തിയതായി അറബ് മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ റിപോര്‍ട്ട് ചെയ്തു.
കടലിന് കുറുകെ 40 മീറ്റര്‍ ഉയരത്തിലാണ് പാലം നിര്‍മിക്കുക. റോഡിനൊപ്പം റെയില്‍ ശൃംഖലയുമുണ്ടാകും. വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പ് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ച പദ്ധതിക്കായി നേരത്തെ ടെണ്ടര്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയായിരുന്നുവെങ്കിലും സാമ്പത്തിക മാന്ദ്യത്തെതുടര്‍ന്ന് തല്‍ക്കാലത്തേക്ക് മരവിപ്പിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. 'സൗഹൃദ'പാലം യാഥാര്‍ഥ്യമാകുമെന്ന് ഉറപ്പുണ്ടെന്ന് ചര്‍ചക്ക് ശേഷം ഖാലിദ് ബിന്‍ അഹ്മദ് ബിന്‍ മുഹമ്മദ് അലി അല്‍ ഖലീഫ പറഞ്ഞു.
ടെക്‌നിക്കല്‍ കമ്മിറ്റി പദ്ധതി വിശദമായി പഠിച്ചുവരികയാണ്. ജനങ്ങള്‍ ഏറെ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന പദ്ധതിയായതിനാല്‍ നിര്‍മാണ നടപടികളുമായി മുന്നോട്ട് പോകും. എന്നാല്‍ നിര്‍മാണം എന്ന് തുടങ്ങുമെന്നതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഇപ്പോള്‍ പറയാന്‍ കഴിയില്ല. ബഹ്‌റൈനെയും സൗദി അറേബ്യയെയും ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പുതിയൊരു പാലം കൂടി നിര്‍മിക്കാന്‍ പദ്ധതിയുണ്ടെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേര്‍ത്തു.
ഖത്തര്‍ ആതിഥ്യമരുളുന്ന 2022ലെ ലോകകപ്പ് ഫുട്ബാളിന് മുമ്പ് പാലം പൂര്‍ത്തിയായാല്‍ വന്‍ വികസന സാധ്യതയാണ് ഖത്തറിനെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.

Foreign Ministers of the two countries discussed the latest developments related to the project in a meeting here on Sunday, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday. 'I have discussed the project with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani at a working dinner,' Ali Al Khalifa told Al Arab.
'The causeway is a strategic project for both countries. We need more bridges and people are talking about the Qatar-Bahrain causeway and another bridge to connect Bahrain with Saudi Arabia,' said Al Khalifa.
